19th annual National Portrait & Figurative Artist’s Conference

The Excellence in Fine Art Education Award will be presented to teacher, painter, and author, Richard Schmid. Influencing thousands of artists and art students throughout the United Sates and abroad, Richard’s commitment to fine art education and painting in the traditional realist manner has distinguished him as one of America’s greatest contemporary painters. Throughout his career, Schmid has generously shared his knowledge through his publications and his mentoring of young artists. He continues to promote art education through his books, articles and demonstrations.

CONGRATULATIONS to Richard Schmid, Kristen Thies, Nancy Guzik, Gallery 1261, and The Rocky Mountain Conservancy for an incredible show and fundraiser at GALLERY 1261 in Denver, CO! Fundraiser Highlights
The fundraiser assisted The Rocky Mountain Conservancy with their ongoing effort to acquire available lands within the boundaries of Rocky Mountain National Park while honoring Richard Schmid and his Fine Art career. The afternoon included the following:

- Luncheon followed by an award ceremony celebrating Richard's contributions to non-profits in the State of Colorado
- Award ceremony honoring Richard's contributions to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department, The Salmagundi Club and The Rocky Mountain Conservancy
- Panel Discussion with Quang Ho, Scott Burdick, Kathy Anderson, Daniel J. Keys & Judy Stach
- Presentation by Charles Money, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Conservancy
- A digital presentation of Richard Schmid's paintings of Colorado by Kristen Thies & Nancy Guzik

Books and a new LTD print titled Aspen Forest- Rocky Mountain National Park, were available for purchase and sold out quickly.
100% of sales from the print were donated to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy.
